Strengthening community-led participatory natural resources management, in both marine and terrestrial environments, and putting communities back in the decision-making position.

The distribution of power profoundly affects the conditions for sustainable natural resource management across at-risk ecosystems in the global South. When the interests at the local level are not represented in the decision-making processes that take place, the longevity and health of social-ecological systems are at risk. Participatory ecosystem management requires the alignment of different scales of decision-making, from the local to regional levels.

We work to improve the quality of collaboration among actors at different levels. Using simple but effective tools we support participatory management and planning at the local level to conserve biodiversity, combat climate change, and ensure equitable access to life-sustaining resources which are the backbone for community wellbeing.
